What is act OUT?
Act OUT is a GREAT opportunity for today’s shiest children/youth right through to the drama kings/queen’s of the region.
We are a nurturing team that help participants BELIEVE in themselves and provide a place for them to feel they BELONG while exploring their curiosity of the theatrical arts. Our professional team will help them come out of their shells, help them find positive uses of their abundant energy and guiding them to BECOME individuals with a healthy self esteem & many lifelong skills in a safe, supportive positive environment – we’re where children & youth TAKE THE LEAD! Through workshops, productions, March Break and Summer Camps we’ve got things covered for the theatrical arts!
What does act OUT offer to today’s educators?
Act OUT produces 3-4 productions per year incorporating area children and youth from 5-17 years of age.
These productions are professionally done, high quality, wonderful and affordable opportunity to expose today’s students to the arts particularly live theatre and even possibly support a classmate involved in the production! Help your students bring literacy to life!
Our shows provide a Curriculum Connections package to teachers to help explore related topics that connect to various aspects of the show be it Science, Math, Music, Art, Social Studies etc. – are typically 1.5-2 hours in length – done in accessible theatres – performed solely by children and youth at impressive standards – are fully costumed, sets and props for the full live theatre experience & professionally executed – affordable reduced rate tickets for schools and homeschooling groups – TEACHERS attend FREE! – presented in Waterloo Regional theatres each December, late February and May!
Act OUT also offers a free Post show talk back / Q&A session with our actors and behind the scenes team for our school audiences team. This is a wonderful opportunity for the audience to provide comment, find out how we did tricks in the show, how the actors learned their lines/accents/history around a character etc. and possibly be inspired to explore the arts themselves. It is also a great opportunity for our actors & audiences to progress their public speaking skills by having to think on the spot and provide clear questions/responses. We charge the schools $5 per student and volunteer ticket to keep it affordable for schools but to also offer schools room to add some quick fundraising for their school if they want to raise the ticket price a bit, act OUT will only invoice you for the $5.00!
