Do you need new ways to inspire students, or find ways to teach with some cross-curricular integrations?
Then we’re your solution!  Join us in the audience for an experience you and your students won’t soon forget!  Or bring us to your classroom for personalized workshops in drama, dance or if you are coming to see us at the theatre we can come to you before the show to share some choreography, songs, characterizations etc.

What is act OUT?

Act OUT is a GREAT opportunity for today’s shiest children/youth right through to the drama kings/queen’s of the region.
We are a nurturing team that help participants BELIEVE in themselves and provide a place for them to feel they BELONG while exploring their curiosity of the theatrical arts.  Our professional team will help them come out of their shells, help them find positive uses of their abundant energy and guiding them to BECOME individuals with a healthy self esteem & many lifelong skills in a safe, supportive positive environment – we’re where children & youth TAKE THE LEAD!   Through workshops, productions, March Break and Summer Camps we’ve got things covered for the theatrical arts!

What does act OUT offer to today’s educators?

Act OUT produces 3-4 productions per year incorporating area children and youth from 5-17 years of age.
These productions are professionally done, high quality, wonderful and affordable opportunity to expose today’s students to the arts particularly live theatre and even possibly support a classmate involved in the production! Help your students bring literacy to life!

Our shows provide a Curriculum Connections package to teachers to help explore related topics that connect to various aspects of the show be it Science, Math, Music, Art, Social Studies etc. – are typically 1.5-2 hours in length – done in accessible theatres – performed solely by children and youth at impressive standards – are fully costumed, sets and props for the full live theatre experience & professionally executed – affordable reduced rate tickets for schools and homeschooling groups – TEACHERS attend FREE! – presented in Waterloo Regional theatres each December, late February and May!

Act OUT also offers a free Post show talk back / Q&A session with our actors and behind the scenes team for our school audiences team.  This is a wonderful opportunity for the audience to provide comment, find out how we did tricks in the show, how the actors learned their lines/accents/history around a character etc. and possibly be inspired to explore the arts themselves. It is also a great opportunity for our actors & audiences to progress their public speaking skills by having to think on the spot and provide clear questions/responses. We charge the schools $5 per student and volunteer ticket to keep it affordable for schools but to also offer schools room to add some quick fundraising for their school if they want to raise the ticket price a bit, act OUT will only invoice you for the $5.00!

BOOK TODAY! Contact our Booking Manager Kim Hryniuk or **For a nominal fee team members at act OUT may also be available to bring Drama & Dance Workshops either connected to a show you are seeing or in general to your classroom! We are also expanding into creating workshops for teachers who need some ideas, are terrified teaching dance or drama – we want to help!

"Fabulous performances.  My daughter was on the edge of her seat all night long.  What a great group of talent all around.  We will check out other shows for sure." Bobbi

"I think it has been one of the girl's most wonderful experiences in life!!! And I am just as excited as they are!  Catherine

"Through disciple, organization, practice and plain old fun, we have seen our daughter's confidence and self esteem grow from a fear of singing and performing in front of close family and friends to blasting out songs and demonstrating choreography routines in front of everyone!  She has made new friends, learned about teamwork and the importance of everyone working together and gained knowledge about the 'theatre world.'  We are now seeing the discipline and self-responsibility that Dee initiates within the production rehearsals and performances carry over into other aspects of our daughter's life.  As a parent I have been thoroughly impressed with the organization of the whole production.  Dianna D.

"I just want to thank you for the wonderful job that have done with Isabella, as her teacher you create an opportunity for her to feel part of the art community. All the support that you have gave to her no matter her skill and ability level is priceless. Your teaching will have along lasting impact on her. You are an inspiration for her. I thank you again for all the wonderful work you have done and wish you all the best for your future."

Best regards, Ortiz Family!

"I loved the production. Clearly, the students are really enjoying the experience and you can just feel the energy in the group."Dianne
