SOCIAL STUDIES

We deliver the EARLY SOCIETIES CURRICULUM like no other, by getting your students off the floor and putting them right in the action.

Early Societies Presentation:

This presentation will test your students’ knowledge of different ancient civilizations and deliver curriculum based information that will aid them in Building Their Own Empire making it the perfect fit for a single class.

(teachers will have the option to customize this presentation based on an overview of 6+ civilizations or a more comparative presentation based on a more in depth look at two ancient civilizations. Individual civilization can be determined by the teacher beforehand)

Early Societies Doubleheader:

Have more than one class?  We give teachers control over the days’ events by having them select any Two of our fully interactive workshops and combining them to create their own customized Early Societies Program.

Early Societies MINI-Festival Presentation:

Have multiple classes?  No Problem!  This MINI-Festival allows teachers to select any Three of our workshops to create a memorable Hands-On experience for larger groups and we bring your classes together to watch a fully armored battle demonstration giving your day a great culminating activity.

Early Societies Festival Presentation:

Recommended for Four or more classes, this full-day event will begin with a quick introduction to the entire group with The King’s Speech and move into the Four teacher selected workshops. This presentation will culminate in a fully armored battle demonstration that is guaranteed to keep your students talking about Champions of History for years to come.

Early Societies Program

Everything was relevant and current. I felt the whole workshop was engaging and meaningful. The students got to learn about early societies in all different types of learning styles. I personally thought it was a fantastic workshop!

The Early Societies presentation you have created is fabulous. The hands on activities are engaging and relevant. Loved the empire building idea and checking in on the student knowledge.

The battle was great! The presentation was great! The presenters Tracy and Dwayne were fabulous and kept the students interest and engaged! Highly recommend this program!

The YMCA Day Camps have been booking these workshops at multiple locations for the past 2 summers, and we have always been completely satisfied with the quality and educational programming that Dwayne and his team has brought along with to each and every visit.

The programming is inclusive for everyone involved, even our counsellors. I feel the workshops are safe, fun and educational and we can’t wait for Focus Up to come back in the years to come.

Stage Combat

The most important aspect to me is what the kids use long AFTER the workshops are over. Throughout the school year I watched students employ the techniques taught by the instructors again and again....techniques they used with confidence and the safety of their acting partners in mind. Simply stated, they did a terrific job with our students.

Your style is relaxed yet in control which allowed the kids to connect with you in the ideal way. The content was delivered in an interesting way that engaged them and allowed them to learn. The workshop was without question the best that our group has ever had.
