David Smith Marionettes
The David Smith Marionettes was established by David and Muriel Smith in 1979. They design and create their own string puppets for their own music-filled performances. They have performed in hundreds of Ontario schools, libraries, fairs, family series and community events with their story. Their beautiful hand-crafted marionettes have appeared on TV and in music videos (Crash Test Dummies, Great Big Sea) and with symphony orchestras in works by Harry Somers, Saint Saens, Khatchaturian and a puppet opera by Haydn.

A twist to the traditional tale with a moosical cow a transforming giant and magic beans which has captured the imaginations of hundreds of children ages 9 to 12
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
A Melodrama Cheering the handsome hero and booing the villain is as much fun today as it was years ago. These traditional tales are each 50 minutes in length and are fully staged with attractive set pieces and lighting ALL INCLUSIVE FEE $600
These variety programs are ideal for corporate, community, children’s and family events. A fast-moving 30 minute program featuring a large cast of colourful characters, animals and variety performers. COMPANY PROFILE David Smith has held senior positions in Canada: Ontario Puppetry Association, United States: Puppeteers of America and International puppet organizations: UNIMA CANADA and UNIMA USA and is currently the VP of UNIMA CANADA. He taught music for twelve years in Toronto area high schools and for twenty-one years at Queens University in Kingston. He currently plays in and leads a sixteen member Sounds of Jazz Big Band. Muriel Smith is a full partner in the David Smith Marionettes creating costumes and performing with their beautiful handcrafted marionettes. She taught Kindergarten in Toronto, North York and Kingston before retirement. She currently volunteers in Kingston’s YMCA Day Care, teaching music and movement.
