Tours at Mapleton's Organic Dairy

Mapleton's Organic Dairy is an onsite processing plant and dairy farm! We are certified organic by EcoCert Canada. We believe that it is important to farm in a sustainable way. This is why we farm using organic practices. We do not use any synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. We focus largely on crop rotation and taking care of the soil.

Come Visit the Farm!

We offer tours of our organic dairy farm to students and community groups. Tours are available from May to October. In the spring, the farm is full of baby animals. Everything from chicks, turkeys, piglets and of course calves!  In the fall, we take a trip back to our pumpkin patch where the children have the option of bringing home a farm grown pumpkin. The tours include a visit to the barnyard, home to the chickens, turkeys, pigs, alpacas and donkey! Then the group heads to the dairy barn to view the herd of 70 organic dairy cows. These cows are the makers of the precious milk that is separated into cream and processed into our nationally loved organic ice cream! A Mapleton's ice cream cone is included in the tour. With no artificial colors or flavors, our ice cream is highly recommended. There are many learning aspects for different age groups. Many young groups enjoy the atmosphere of the farm while experiencing the sights and sounds of the animals. Older groups can discuss the importance of agriculture, the ecosystem of the farm and sustainability issues.

Learning Outcomes can Include:

  • How Pumpkins grow
  • Learing about cows
  • How does a plant grow
  • What is Soil Anyway
  • The Farm as an Ecosystem

Suitable for all ages. Please inquiry about options for highschools and university/college programs.
