STEM (SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING MATHS) Workshops

In the last months Robo-Geek had sessions about “Bridges Design”, “Gravity” and “Solar System” in the STEM

Club that runs every Thursday at our office. We found that the material we used there is excellent for organizing workshops for a class

Prices: $14-16 per student.

Hours: 10:00 AM – 2:00 pm. Lunch break: 12:00-12.30 PM
Please, book them one month in advance to reserve it.

RG-STEM-01 Bridges Design (Grades 5 to 11) $15 per student including material
At the beginning of the workshop there will be a lecture with videos about bridge design and different type of

bridges. The class will be divided in groups, of six or less students depending on the class size; each group will

build their bridge using material provided by Robo-Geek. The students will write also a summary of what they

learned during this workshop. They will use Ipython to write their reports in our lab; then all presentations will

be saved in a common laptop for the final presentation.
At the end there will be a contest for testing the strength of the bridges that the students built and their

presentation.

RG-STEM-02 Gravity (Grades 5 to 11) $14 per student including material
At the beginning of the workshop there will be a lecture with videos about gravity and the story of the different

theories about it.
Students will work in group of six or less depending on the class size; they will perform the following activities:
Calculate the acceleration due to gravity from data
Exercise to understand the gravitational equations for projectile motion.
Exercise to understand projectile motion when shooting in an angle
Each group will have the opportunity to write in the lab their reports on Ipython and watch the simulation

programs written in Python for Gravity.
In the last part of the workshop students’ groups will present their findings using Ipython.

RG-STEM-03 Solar System (Grades 5 to 11) $15 per student including material
At the beginning of the workshop there will be a lecture with videos about Solar Systems and the story of the

different theories about it. Students will work in group of six or less depending on the class size; they will perform the following activities:
Calculate their weights in other planets.
Exercise to understand ellipses and orbits.
Compare distances from planets to the sun.
Each group will have the opportunity to write in the lab their reports on Ipython and watch the simulation

programs written in Python for the Solar System Simulation.
In the last part of the workshop students’ groups will present their findings using Ipython.
